OEE calculator

Calculate Overall Equipment Effectiveness from planned time, downtime, ideal cycle time and part counts.

How it is calculated

Availability = run time ÷ planned time. Performance = ideal cycle × total parts ÷ run time. Quality = good ÷ total. OEE = A × P × Q.

Worked example

480 min planned, 60 min down, 0.5 min cycle, 700 made, 680 good: A 87.5 %, P 83.3 %, Q 97.1 %, OEE 70.8 %.

Steps

  1. Enter planned time and downtime.
  2. Enter ideal cycle time from the process spec.
  3. Enter total and good parts for the shift.

Frequently asked questions

What is a good OEE?

Around 85 % is world-class in discrete manufacturing; many plants run 60 to 70 %.

Is planned time the shift length?

Use planned production time, which excludes scheduled breaks.

Does scrap count as quality loss?

Yes, only good parts count in quality.
